THE BRAND

Intriged by the space and the relationship between a human being and an object Neeltje Design Studio creates interior objects that aim to foster a true connection between person and object.
Interweaving the subtle appearance of Japanese esthetics, references to well made vintage audio divices and modernist architecture can be found in the objects of Neeltje Design Studio.

about

THE PHILOSOPHY

Neeltje Design Studio borrows natural elements as the moon and stones into her interior objects. She believes that the home should feel as a sanctuary and that beauty can soothe the soul. Her objects are meant to anchor a quiet moment, a gathering, a ritual or simply a dream.

Elements that form the fundaments of life, gravity, balance, light and darkness can be found as subjects in her designs. References she finds in japanese philosophy such as zen conceptual thinking, the concept of wabi sabi but also astronomy.

THE DESIGNER

Neeltje Design Studio is led by artist/designer and entrepreneur Neeltje Kromdijk. Growing her small studio into a company to have its own independent production, from beginning to end. Being schooled at the Design Academy Eindhoven she loves to mix her own artistic expression with.

THE TECHNIQUES

All objects are carefully designed and crafted by Neeltje in collaboration with local craftsmen. She feels at home in the workplace of the welder, the mold maker or the ceramist, where in collaboration her concepts come to form. Neeltje believes to truly make timeless pieces they need to 'sit' and mature over time.
The designs are slowly ment into their final form, becoming new classics for generations to come.

To ensure the longevity of the objects Neeltje tests all objects in her studio home for several years before they are ready to find their way to new owners.

THE STUDIO

Hidden between the old walls of a church building from 1930 one can find the studio and home of Neeltje. She lives and works here together with her husband, Jairo, in the North of Rotterdam.
