Neeltje Design Studio is an independent design studio focused on lighting and sculptural objects. Everything is handmade to order.

Behind each object lies an extensive research in the matter, whether the roots of the subject lie in astronomy, japanese garden philosophy or sculpture, one can find a strong story telling and spiritual layer. 

‘In my designs I try to grasp the beauty of things that seem ungraspable, like moonlight, an eclipse, a scent or a reflection in water'. I strive to make you feel a highly personal and closely connection towards my objects.

I borrowed the moon. For her to look upon indirectly, knowing that a direct stare could make one mad. Like a moonviewing platform in a Japanese Garden. Do you see what I see? Can you see what there is not. In a pool of water one can see itself, waiting for the mind to become clear, when she appears from behind clouds...

NOTE ON MOTHERHOOD 

Becoming a mother really sparked my entrepeneurship and helped me to have an absolute focus on what I'm doing. It is a practice of being in the now and seeing the essence in front of you. On May the 30th 2025 our daughter was born at home in Rotterdam. It was an unmedicalized home birth of which I am so proud. The birth was such an empowering and life changing event.
I had to push with all the powers I had to bring her into this world. In the intense and most beautiful months after her birth, I kept coming up with new business ideas and I am so keen to realize the best ones into new businesses and projects. I know now that I can lean in with all the superpowers in me.
